Why Locals Love Restoran Denyutan Lidah

Restoran Denyutan Lidah is a cherished gem nestled in the heart of Kampung Sungai Chinchin, Hulu Gombak, Kuala Lumpur. Specializing in authentic Malay cuisine, this humble restaurant invites you to experience flavors that are deeply rooted in tradition yet bursting with passion and care. The culinary offerings here echo the rich heritage of Minang and Malay dishes, where each plate tells a story of meticulous preparation and vibrant spices.

Among the extensive buffet-style selection, which boasts around 34 dishes priced reasonably between RM7 to RM8, patrons rave about the signature beef rendang—slow-cooked to tender perfection with a luscious, aromatic gravy that melts delightfully on the tongue. The nasi padang here is another standout, offering a wide variety of side dishes that perfectly complement the fluffy white rice, creating a harmonious balance of textures and tastes.

The dining atmosphere at Restoran Denyutan Lidah is unpretentious yet warm, enhanced by cheerful staff whose friendly demeanor makes every visit memorable. While the seating is limited and the space is not air-conditioned, it exudes an authentic local charm that feels both inviting and comforting. The open-air setting allows diners to relish their meals with a subtle touch of rustic ambiance, making your culinary journey even more genuine.

Regular visitors commend the consistency and freshness of the food, which is especially abundant if you arrive around 11 to 12 noon when the buffet is freshly laid out. Be sure to come early, as the restaurant quickly fills up and the most popular dishes are often scooped away by the lunchtime crowd. While parking can be a bit challenging, usually requiring roadside spots, the excellent food quality more than compensates for this minor inconvenience.

If you happen to be exploring the birdwatching spots nearby, a stop at Restoran Denyutan Lidah offers the perfect way to recharge your senses with a vibrant meal that bursts with color, aroma, and taste—giving you an authentic taste of Malaysian home-style cooking that feels both nostalgic and deeply satisfying.

One of my favourite Malay restaurants in Hulu Gombak. The food here is cooked with passion and is really tasty, compared to most of the Malay foods in PJ & KL, where they are simply cooked. I've eaten here several times after I go up the road for birdwatching. The price is reasonable, 3-4 dishes around RM7 to RM8. The staff are cheerful and happy, which is great. They have a lot of authentic dishes, which are hard to find in the main city area. Highly recommended!

Nasi padang with wide selection of dishes to choose from, to be eaten with white rice. I've frequented this place since years ago, and the food quality is always the same. Scrumptious and cheap. Come early before noon if you don't want to experience the full house crowd, and the food are mostly gone just a bit later after noon. Parking is a bit difficult, and usually you'd have to park by the roadside.

I stopped by for lunch on a weekday because it looked crowded, suggesting that the food was probably good. I was happy with the food, which was indeed tasty. I had the beef rendang, which was pretty good. My friend had some fish, which he enjoyed. When I was visited, there were not many vegetables dishes available. The service was fine. The restaurant itself is quite humble and seems kinda run down and dirty.

This place caters to most of your Malay -type-dishes cravings. It offers arrays of food and price is alright. If you are lucky, you might get some free food from the staff. Regarding the seats, it's limited to 20++ and is not air-conditioned. The best time to get the food is around 11-12 o'clock when they just finished serving the buffet. If you go during the lunch hour, the food choices are lesser.

One of the most under rated restaurant in my area. The setup quite simple compared to other similar restaurant but the taste is really good and above the rest. Very friendly staff, the price is really reasonable and the foods are really awesome. I've tried a few varieties of foods and all are really good. Thanks for the wonderfull food!
